Biography

Tauseef Al Mulla is Sharjah based U.A.E artist of many facets has done pastel, realistic oil painting, and is a master of collage, print making and mix media as well Khatt Al Arabi.

Her work as we see today, took its shape over the past 20 years. After doing her bachelors in 1976, she gained her training as an artist from Central Institute of Art and Crafts (Karachi). Then various additional courses of advanced etching, Arabic Calligraphy, realistic oil painting in UAE. Belonging to a family of artists, the visual experiences has always been an asset and guiding point in her work. She has experimented on different styles and mediums, now she specializes in doing calligraphy in abstract form and etching based on oriental architecture.

Her paintings seem to have a mystical quality – a powerful blend of Islamic verses with Arabic arches and monuments. Touched with gold and silver, the sweeping curves and flourishes of calligraphy have a stunning effect. There are works of abstract expressionism where it should not be necessary to read the actual calligraphy, but rather feel the painting message through artistic rhythm.

A member of Dubai International Art Centre and Sharjah Institute of Calligraphy and Ornamentation. She has had several exhibitions and 5 solo shows, all have received rave reviews. She has also done commission work for ADCO (Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations) Calligraphy Assignment for corporate and private clients, her work is in private collections in the UAE, USA, UK, Pakistan and Germany.

She was the only artist selected from UAE and invited to Sweden to paint a 2 meter high horse (dalahurst), for the 25th anniversary of the Sweden Women’s Educational Association. Tauseef was also selected as one of the distinguished Emirati women, from the Higher Colleges of Technology for the International Women’s’ Day in 2004.

She has also painted a 3D camel for the camel caravan in UAE, about the Dubai skyline.

Currently she is giving art classes , Dubai International Art Centre and the Sharjah Ladies Club.

It is as much her painting and calligraphic skills as her ingenuity in using diverse media that she succeeds in producing beauty that has novelty together with artistry which undoubtedly leave the audience mesmerized.
